Rocky Roads

Land

This land enters tapped unless you control a Mount or Vehicle.
{T}

: Add

, Sacrifice this land: Create a 1/1 colorless Pilot creature token with "This token saddles Mounts and crews Vehicles as though its power were 2 greater." Activate only as a sorcery.

Jak działa karta?

Land that usually enters tapped unless you already control a Mount or Vehicle. Tap for {R} . Can be sacrificed (cost {1} {R} , {T} ) to make a 1/1 Pilot token that counts as having +2 power only when saddling Mounts or crewing Vehicles. Ability is sorcery-speed.

We translate the Oracle text literally while keeping mana symbols and subtype names. The land ETBs tapped unless you control a Mount or Vehicle. It has {T} : Add {R} . It also has an activated ability with cost {1} {R} , {T} , and sacrificing the land; that ability creates a 1/1 colorless Pilot creature token that has the special saddling/crewing wording. The sacrifice is paid as part of the cost, so you cannot use the land to pay the {T} after it’s sacrificed. The token’s special line modifies only how its power is treated for saddling Mounts and crewing Vehicles; it does not actually change its printed power or grant other benefits. This activated ability is sorcery-speed.

Ważne interakcje

We need to check whether you already control a permanent with the subtype Mount or Vehicle as this land enters the battlefield. If you do, it enters untapped; otherwise it enters tapped.
You can tap this land for one red mana ().
By paying , tapping this land, and sacrificing it, you create a 1/1 colorless Pilot creature token. The sacrifice is part of the cost, so it happens before the token is created.
The token has the static ability: "This token saddles Mounts and crews Vehicles as though its power were 2 greater." That means when that token attempts to saddle a Mount or crew a Vehicle, for the purpose of meeting any power requirement or comparing its power to something that references power for saddling/crewing, treat its power as if it were 2 higher than its printed power (so the 1/1 is treated as if it has power 3 for those checks).
The token’s printed power and toughness remain 1/1. Effects that look at the token’s actual power (for damage, buffs, or other effects) use its real power; the +2 is only for saddling Mounts and crewing Vehicles.
If an effect requires you to tap creatures to crew a Vehicle, the token must be tapped if the crewing action requires tapping; the token’s saddling/crewing bonus does not change whether it can be tapped or not.
The activated ability can be activated only any time you could cast a sorcery (your main phase when the stack is empty).

Częste pomyłki

Thinking the token’s actual printed power becomes 3. It remains a 1/1; the +2 only applies when saddling Mounts or crewing Vehicles.
Believing the sacrifice happens after the token is created. Sacrificing is part of the cost and happens before the token is put onto the battlefield.
Trying to activate the sacrifice ability at instant speed. It can be activated only when you could cast a sorcery.
Assuming having the token saddles/crews automatically. You still must perform the normal action (saddle or crew) and meet any other requirements; the token only counts as having +2 power for those checks.
