If an effect refers to a Clue, it means any Clue artifact, not just a Clue artifact token. For example, you can sacrifice Wrench to pay for Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth's activated ability.

Ballroom
Land
This land enters tapped.
: Add or .
, : Investigate. (Create a Clue token. It's an artifact with ", Sacrifice this token: Draw a card.")
: Add or ., : Investigate. (Create a Clue token. It's an artifact with ", Sacrifice this token: Draw a card.")Jak działa karta?
Ziemia wchodzi tapped.
Pierwsza zdolność: : Add or . Aktywujesz tę zdolność, płacisz 4 i tapujesz ziemię; w rezultacie tworzysz token Clue. Ten token jest artefaktem z tekstem ", Sacrifice this token: Draw a card." — możesz później zapłacić i poświęcić token, aby dobrać kartę. Zdolności wyzwalane "whenever you sacrifice a Clue" zadziałają zawsze, gdy poświęcisz Clue z dowolnego powodu.
- : Add or . — możesz odtapować (tapić) tę ziemię, aby dodać do puli many jedną białą () lub jedną czarną () manę.
- , : Investigate. — zapłacisz koszt 4 dowolnej many i tapniesz tę ziemię; w wyniku tej aktywowanej zdolności tworzysz token Clue (artefakt).
- Clue token — token jest artefaktem z tekstem ", Sacrifice this token: Draw a card."; możesz później zapłacić i poświęcić ten token, aby dobrać kartę.
- Próba natychmiastowego użycia Ballroom do dodania many w turze, w której została zagrana — wchodzi tapped i trzeba poczekać, chyba że inny efekt ją odtapnie.
Albo w turze, kiedy masz 4 man i chcesz dociągnąć kartę w przyszłości, płacisz i tapujesz Ballroom, żeby Investigate — otrzymujesz token Clue; później płacisz i poświęcasz token, aby dobrać kartę.

Clue is an artifact type. Even though it appears on some cards with other permanent types, it's never a creature type, a land type, or anything but an artifact type.
Some abilities trigger "whenever you sacrifice a Clue". Those abilities trigger whenever you sacrifice a Clue for any reason, not just to activate a Clue's activated ability.
You can't sacrifice a Clue to pay multiple costs. For example, you can't sacrifice a Clue token to activate its own ability and also to activate Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth's ability.
Some spells and abilities that investigate may require targets. If each target chosen is an illegal target as that spell or ability tries to resolve, it won't resolve. You won't create any Clue tokens.
