Otherworldly Journey

Exile a target creature now. A delayed trigger returns that card to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step, and it enters with an additional +1/+1 counter. If cast during an end step, the return waits until the following end step.

Otherworldly Journey: Instant — Arcane. "Exile target creature. At the beginning of the next end step, return that card to the battlefield under its owner's control with a +1/+1 counter on it." 1) When this spell resolves, the targeted creature is exiled. Exile removes the creature from the battlefield; it is no longer affected by things on the battlefield. 2) A delayed triggered ability is created that will trigger at the beginning of the next end step. That trigger is not tied to the current turn's end step unless it is the next one — if you cast the spell during an end step, the trigger waits until the following end step. 3) While the creature is exiled, any Auras that were attached to it are put into their owners' graveyards (they cannot remain attached in exile). Equipment becomes unattached and stays on the battlefield. 4) At the beginning of the next end step, the delayed trigger resolves and returns that card from exile to the battlefield under its owner's control. It returns as a new object, and it gains one +1/+1 counter in addition to any other counters it would normally have when it enters.

Ważne interakcje

Two players or more can respond with spells/abilities after Otherworldly Journey is cast and on resolution while it is on the stack. While the creature is exiled, players can cast spells and activate abilities that target or affect objects in exile if those spells/abilities allow targeting exiled cards. The delayed trigger that returns the creature triggers at the beginning of the next end step — players get priority to act before it triggers and after it triggers as normal.
If Otherworldly Journey is cast during an end step, its delayed return trigger will not occur until the beginning of the following end step (the next one after the current step).
When the creature is exiled, any Auras attached to it are put into their owners' graveyards (they go to the graveyard as a state-based action). Equipment becomes unattached but stays on the battlefield.
When the card returns at the beginning of that end step, it returns as a new object. It is the same card but a different object: it loses previous counters, damage, enchantments, etc., and enters with a +1/+1 counter in addition to any other counters it would normally have when it enters.

Częste pomyłki

Thinking the creature returns immediately at the next cleanup step — it returns at the beginning of the next end step (not during the cleanup step).
Believing Auras return attached with the creature — Auras attached to the creature are put into their owners' graveyards when the creature is exiled; they do not return with it.
Expecting the returned creature to be the same object with the same damage/counters — the card returns as a new object, so previous damage and attached Auras are gone; it does, however, get a +1/+1 counter on entry.

You cast Otherworldly Journey targeting an opponent's 3/3 creature. It is exiled. Later, at the beginning of the next end step, that card returns to the battlefield under its owner's control as a new creature with a +1/+1 counter, so it is a 4/4 (assuming no other modifiers). If you cast the spell during the end step, the return happens at the beginning of the following end step, not the same one.

If Otherworldly Journey is cast during an end step, the creature won't return until the beginning of the next end step.

2005-08-01

Any Aura attached to the creature is put into its owner's graveyard as a state-based action. Equipment attached to the creature become unattached but remain on the battlefield.

2004-12-01

The creature comes back onto the battlefield as a new creature, with one +1/+1 counter on it (plus any other counters that it would normally enter with).
