Wyjaśnienie po polsku

Mortality Spear

Instant

This spell costs {2}

less to cast if you gained life this turn.
Destroy target nonland permanent.

Jak działa karta?

Instant. It costs {2} less to cast if you gained life this turn. Destroy target nonland permanent.

To determine the total cost to cast Mortality Spear, begin with its mana cost ( {4} {B} ) or any alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply cost reductions (for example, Mortality Spear's own reduction). The card’s mana value (converted mana cost) is always 4, regardless of what you actually paid to cast it. If you gained life this turn, the spell costs {2} less to cast. When it resolves, it destroys target nonland permanent.

Częste pomyłki

Confusing the cost reduction with changing the card’s mana value — Mortality Spear’s mana value is always 4, even if you pay less to cast it.
Thinking the cost reduction applies after applying cost increases — cost increases are added before reductions are applied when determining total cost.
Believing it can target lands — it can only target nonland permanents.

Przykład

If Mortality Spear’s printed mana cost is {4} {B} and you gained life this turn, you pay {2} {B} to cast it (after applying the {2} reduction). Its mana value remains 4.

To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying, add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions (such as that of Mortality Spear). Mortality Spear's mana value is always 4, no matter what the total cost to cast it was.
