Chartooth Cougar has two abilities described in the oracle text. 1) " {R} : This creature gets +1/+0 until end of turn." — This is an activated ability of the permanent on the battlefield. To use it you pay one red mana ( {R} ) while you control the creature and have priority. The effect lasts until end of turn and increases its power by 1 (toughness is unchanged). 2) "Mountaincycling {2} ( {2} , Discard this card: Search your library for a Mountain card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle.)" — Mountaincycling is an activated ability that you activate from your hand. To activate it you pay {2} and discard Chartooth Cougar. Then you may search your library for any card that has the Mountain land type (basic or nonbasic), reveal that card, put it into your hand, and shuffle your library. You may choose not to find a card even if one exists. Mountaincycling does not make you draw a card — it specifically replaces drawing with finding a Mountain card.

You cannot draw a card when you activate Mountaincycling; the result is putting a Mountain card from your library into your hand instead of drawing.
If an effect stops you from activating activated abilities, it also stops you from using Mountaincycling.

Mountaincycling is a form of cycling. Any ability that triggers on a card being cycled also triggers on Mountaincycling this card. Any ability that stops a cycling ability from being activated also stops Mountaincycling from being activated.

Unlike the normal cycling ability, Mountaincycling doesn't allow you to draw a card. Instead, it lets you search your library for a Mountain card. After you find a Mountain card in your library, you reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.

You can choose to find any card with the Mountain land type, including nonbasic lands. You can also choose not to find a card, even if there is a Mountain card in your library.

Mountaincycling is an activated ability. Effects that interact with activated abilities (such as Stifle or Rings of Brighthearth) will interact with Mountaincycling. Effects that interact with spells (such as Remove Soul or Faerie Tauntings) will not.
